Are you a versatile writer with bragging rights and examples? McGruff is looking for a candidate with the ability to write content for a variety of audiences, ranging from government officials to influencers, Hollywood, advocates, and more. Your portfolio should showcase a wide array of skills across social media, newsletters, press releases, and more.

Speaking of mission driven…community is the key to McGruff’s heart. That means the perfect candidate will have a natural drive to form strategic partnerships with organizations, influencers, journalists, and others in the crime prevention space. They can in turn utilize those partnerships to grow our footprint.

The fast-paced role requires daily content for McGruff’s social media platforms. The right candidate realizes the best content is often generated from real-life venues and opportunities.

What McGruff’s looking for…

·     A deep understanding of communication writing and excellent grammar skills.

·     A passion for learning, analyzing, and implementing new ideas.

·     Experience working within a Communications Team and Executive Leadership to present analytics, dive deeper into relevant information, and position an organization as a thought leader.

·     Experience working with and integrating a company’s CRMs to a digital strategy.

·     Thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for becoming the next digital communications maven.

·     A natural relationship guru, able to develop large partnerships, grow an influencer network, manage McGruff’s online community, support development opportunities, and participate in program activations.

·     2-5 years of communications experience at a major brand, nonprofit, government agency, or on Capitol Hill. A focus on communications writing and social media is a bonus!

·     Video production experience – you’re very familiar with in-app creator tools and can edit well on Adobe Premiere.

·     You are in tune with current trends before they even hit. In fact, you can quickly create content that could make McGruff the trend.

·     A sense of humor, McGruff loves to laugh!

·     You’re not scared to be in a dog suit. Loving dogs is a plus!

What you will be doing…

·     Implement a robust plan that ties in trends, original content, news, and more, across various channels.

·     Be constantly in the know of the news and trends.

·     Conceptualize, script, produce, and shoot short-form video content for our social media channels.

·     Work on large-scale activations ranging from content with other creators, partners and police departments. These campaigns should support our goals of audience development, more brand engagement, and awareness.

·     Work cross-functionally with the Executive Director, Development Team, and programs to ensure strategic and coordinated content.

·     Manage the NCPC social media content calendar. Including writing captions and video scripts, working with graphic designer, and brainstorming ideas with the team.

·     Day to day contact with NCPC’s social media agency.

·     Track and measure media analytics, with an emphasis on growth. McGruff has a big pawprint, impressions are counted in the billions.

The ideal candidate will have experience with the following software and platforms:

·     Meta Business Suite

·     Adobe Creative Suite

·     Sprout Social

·     YouTube Creator Studio

·     Microsoft Office and Teams

·     CRM

Salary Range – $55,000-$75,000

This is a full-time salary position based our Washington, DC headquarters with some work-from-home days. A generous benefits package including health and dental, paid time off, retirement contribution, credit union membership, and more is included.
