Business Unit/Role Specific Info
American Express Ventures (“Amex Ventures”) is the corporate venture capital arm of American Express passionate about early-stage (primarily Seed – Series B) investments across FinTech, commerce and enterprise software. With a global directive, Amex Ventures plays a key role in investing in groundbreaking startups with strategic relevance to American Express. The team also helps portfolio companies and startups to commercialize partnerships with American Express business units.
Amex Ventures has backed more than 100 category-defining founders in its 10+ year history. Notable investments include Biocatch, Blackbird Labs, Firework, Melio, Menlo Security, Plaid, Stripe, Toast and Wonder among others.
We’re looking for an individual to support the team on critical and innovative projects as an Investment Manager.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Participation in deal pipeline activities including sourcing, evaluating, transacting, and handling investments
Supporting research and creation of investment thesis
Proactively identifying potential investments, meeting with, and qualifying startups; will have extensive exposure to and be encouraged to develop strong relations with the venture and ambitious communities
Assisting in management and reporting on the active pipeline
Evaluating potential target company’s and cases from strategic, operational and financial valuation
Adhoc projects and results as needed
This position will be based in New York.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum 2 years previous experience in fields requiring in-depth financial analysis, deal execution, strategy and/or business development
Currently enrolled in a full-time Graduate level degree program
Students must have a graduation date between December 2025 and June 2026.
Preferred Qualifications
The role is a dynamic one and requires both analytical, strategic, and social skills
At least 2-4 years previous experience in fields requiring in-depth financial analysis, deal execution, strategy and/or business development
Track record of being self-reliant, and operate in a highly ambiguous and fast-paced environment
Strategic skills, with the ability to identify and assess key points, implications and recommendations and to provide thought leadership
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong financial, analytical and valuation skills
Consistent record to work effectively with collaborators and get results
Curiosity about the startup ecosystem
Passion for American Express and desire to drive innovation through startup investing
Subject-matter expertise in relevant investment verticals is a plus

Salary Range: $38.45 to $87.00 hourly + sign-on bonus
